Glenwood Springs’ Annual Strawberry Days Festival Postponed to 2021
It is with a heavy heart that the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association announces that the Annual Strawberry Days Festival will be postponed to 2021. The event was scheduled for June 19-21 of this year.
According to Angie Anderson, President & CEO of the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association, “These are truly challenging and unprecedented times, and this decision was not made lightly. We know how much this annual festival means to locals, visitors and vendors who attend; however, our priority is the health and safety of the community.”
Strawberry Days is a 123-year tradition in the community. The event signals the official start of summer, bringing people together from near and far.
The Frontier Historical Society notes that in 1942, Strawberry Day was canceled due to a shortage of ice cream and cake and the inability to obtain good entertainment. The event was also cancelled in 1943, 1944, 1945 and 1946 because of World War II. Other forms of celebration such as the Soap Box Derby competition took its place.
Anderson added, “We hope to be able to gather the community together later this year for a celebration of some kind.”
