MISS STRAWBERRY DAYS

What is the Miss Strawberry Days Competition?
Miss Strawberry Days is probably the oldest civic festival competition west of the Mississippi! The program has evolved over the years from a beauty pageant where contestants modeled bathing suits at the Hot Springs, to a scholarship competition.

Miss Strawberry Days is not a beauty pageant or a popularity contest. While the winning contestants earn substantial scholarships, they are not judged on academics but must plan on attending college or some type of continuing education within two years succeeding the competition.

Miss Strawberry Days is designed to provide an opportunity for local high school girls to acquire substantial scholarships to help pay for college.  Scholarship recipients are selected based upon leadership skills exhibited during the competition, volunteerism, poise, and representation as a community ambassador.

Through a fun and interactive judging process, judges who are new to the community or have no special interest, select the best possible representative of Glenwood Springs.

For more information contact Joni Bates, IOM, VP of Membership Development at 945-1514 or joni@glenwoodchamber.com.

About the Carnival

There will not be a carnival associated with the 2018 Strawberry Days Festival. The Glenwood Springs Mall has graciously hosted the event in their parking lot for nearly a decade, but it is not available this year. Organizers were unable to find a suitable alternative location for this year’s event, but they hope to bring it back in the future.

Please join us at Sayre (Strawberry) Park June 15-17 for a full weekend of fun.   Enjoy an arts & crafts fair, food booths, live music and entertainment. FamilyFest offers interactive, entertaining and creative experiences for the whole family. The parade takes place Saturday at 10 a.m. on Grand Ave., followed by FREE strawberries and ice cream at Sayre Park.
