The Voice of Business with Government
The Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association (GSCRA) is the voice of the greater Glenwood Springs business community on local, state and national political issues. As such, the chamber identifies issues and lobbies elected representatives regarding business-friendly regulation, tax and regulatory reform, education funding, transportation, quality of life and infrastructure investments.
Political Action: Think Global, Act Local
The GSCRA’s Community on the Move Committee has worked to pass every major tax initiative for community infrastructure and improvements in the past 30 years.
These initiatives are responsible for West Glenwood streetscapes, sidewalks and lighting; the City’s the raw water delivery system; the City Hall and Community Center buildings; the Municipal Operations Center; trails; parks; schools; the fire station and equipment; transportation maintenance and RFTA; funding for the arts and Glenwood Springs Historic Society; and the formation of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA).
A Little Help From Our Friends
To work affectively on legislative issues, the chamber has been the catalyst for bringing diverse groups and interests together. Partners include Colorado Mountain College, Valley View, local governments, the DDA, the Glenwood Hot Springs, Glenwood Caverns and the business and tourism community.
We also work with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Colorado Association of Commerce & Industry, Colorado Competitive Council, Club 20 and other chambers of commerce nationwide to identify state and national issues that affect business. To assure a local perspective our Business Advocacy Committee researches and recommends the annual legislative agenda and convenes when pertinent legislation needs to be studied.
Political & Educational Forums
The GSCRA holds annual events and as needed forums and informs the business community about pertinent government workshops and meetings.
