Glenwood Springs' Annual Strawberry Days Festival Postponed to 2022
After much deliberation, the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association announces that the 2021 Strawberry Days Festival will be postponed. The event, typically held the third full weekend of June, will now take place June 17-19, 2022.
Much consideration was made with the unpredictable nature of the coronavirus, timing of vaccine administration, and possible continued restrictions for large gatherings. The GSCRA Board of Directors ultimately determined cancelling the event was a responsible and necessary decision for the health and safety of the community.
Currently, Glenwood Springs is open and operating in the Orange Level on Colorado’s COVID-19 Dial Framework. Although this designation allows for a greater capacity, it still does not allow for large crowds to safely gather both indoors and outdoors. While continuous reduction in the spread of the coronavirus is anticipated, especially as vaccinations are administered, the GSCRA Board believes June is too soon to safely move forward considering Strawberry Days is Glenwood Springs’ largest event drawing thousands of visitors over its three-day operation.
According to Eric Brotherson, Chair of the GSCRA Board of Directors, “While this decision was difficult, we believe it is prudent at this time. We are excited to focus our efforts on making the return of Strawberry Days in 2022 a huge celebration for the entire community.”
Plans are already underway for the 2022 event. We will continue to update this website as more information becomes available.
Strawberry Days is a 123-year tradition in the community. The event signals the official start of summer, bringing people together from far and wide.
