White River National Forest and BLM Colorado River Valley Field Office enter stage 2 fire restrictions Friday
The White River National Forest and the Bureau of Land Management Colorado River Valley Field Office will enter Stage 2 fire restrictions on Friday, June 25 at 12:01 a.m.
Under stage 2 fire restrictions, no campfires or charcoal are allowed anywhere on the Forest or BLM administered lands. Campfires and charcoal in developed campgrounds and picnic areas are prohibited.
County, state and federal officials coordinate and consider many factors when determining the need to implement fire restrictions; these include current and anticipated fire danger, availability of resources to fight the fire, and concerns of neighboring jurisdictions. Recent hot, dry and windy weather has increased fire danger.
“The entire White River National Forest is in an exceptional drought and there is little relief in the future forecast,” said White River National Forest Supervisor Scott Fitzwilliams.
“The fuel conditions in our area are reaching historic lows, please be careful out there,” said BLM Colorado River Valley Field Manager Larry Sandoval.
